Super Bowl Halftime Shows
Since 2007, Mr. Kirshner has been the Executive Producer of the Super Bowl Halftime Show. As executive producer of this landmark event, he has brought audiences some of TV’s most memorable moments including the Halftime shows of Prince, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Madonna, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Coldplay, and Lady Gaga, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. In 2012, Madonna’s Halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI was the most watched TV program ever, at the time, with over 112 million viewers. The 2014 Bruno Mars Halftime show smashed that ratings record with 115+ million viewers in the U.S. alone – more than that enjoyed by the Super Bowl game – a record that was smashed the following year when Katy Perry’s Halftime Show came in at 118+ million viewers. The 2013 Beyonce Halftime show was the Halftime show with the most social media hits of all time. In 2017, Lady Gaga’s Halftime Show became the most watched music program across all platforms in history. The Half Time shows Produced by Kirshner have earned over 30 Emmy Nominations overall.
Each Super Bowl Halftime show takes 6 months to prepare. RKP handles everything from design, music, and lighting to special effects and camera cuts. All of these elements are meticulously planned so that each show can be set up flawlessly in less than 8 minutes, often with no second to spare. It is this kind of planning and attention to detail that RKP brings to its events – big and small.
RKP also produces all of the Pre Game activities for the Super Bowl, as well as the NFL Kick Off show which starts the season each year on NBC.
